Silent Retreat

Relearning Loveliness,

The bud

stands for all things,

even for those things that don't flower,

for everything flowers, from within of self-blessing

though sometimes it is necessary

to reteach a thing its loveliness,

to put a hand on the brow

of the flower,

and retell it in words and in touch,

it is lovely

until it flowers again from within of self-blessing

I love this poem and read it often.

We sometimes forget that it is our birthright to have joy.

I just got back from a week of silent retreat at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA. This quiet time helps me to come back to myself.

We can get lost in relationships, illness, and so many other life situations. Our practice can bring us back home and reteach us our own loveliness.

We deserve to give ourselves the time to reflect, sit quietly and just breathe. Our stuff may come up but ultimately that is good as we can have the opportunity to heal and have deeper insight.

The more awareness we have the happier we can be.
